The treatment options for ADHD include medication, talking therapy and life skills training to help you manage your condition
ADHD
Medication
There are two different types of medication which help to balance the neurotransmitters in the brain. They can improve your focus so that you can get on with what life throws at you, including being able to organise your thoughts and actions.
Talking therapies and life skills
ADHD treatment doesn’t have to be about medication. Talking therapies and training that are geared towards ADHD help you recognise the areas of your life that have been affected and build confidence and life skills.
How I can help you
James’ successful career as a financial entrepreneur was in free fall when in desperation he came to speak to me. In his mid-thirties, he was struggling to build on his early success now that the excitement of his work had worn off. With the right medication and ongoing support, he was able to rescue his business.
Jemima, a middle-aged mother, built her life around managing her symptoms. She relied on her husband to drive her, and only worked nights to avoid engaging with colleagues and others. After my involvement, her relationship with her husband dramatically improved and she was able to sit with her teenage daughter and watch a whole film together for the very first time.
I often found myself directing people to lots of different resources, including a range of books or one-to-one coaching, which is often hard to come by. So I decided to collaborate with Vicki George, the ‘ADHD Nurse’, to bring all of our knowledge, skills and expertise together and create a comprehensive programme called the ‘ADHD Bootcamp’.
It’s an intensive online course that addresses the common problems that people with ADHD experience, such as organisation and planning (otherwise known as executive functioning), relationships and managing emotions. The programme launches in January 2023. You can return to this website for more details, or keep a lookout for ‘ADHD Ninjas‘ on Instagram.
